My name is Brad Powell and I am a long-time Vancouver Island resident. I moved to the Island with my family wayyyy back when Pierre Trudeau was our Prime Minister, the Beatles were still together, and the food was actually really good on the BC Ferries!
As far as photography goes, I am truly a “Digital Baby”. I had cameras in the “Film Era” but really had no interest in the actual art of photography. I bought a series of the early compact digital cameras, such as the remarkable (for it’s time) 2mp Kodak DC280 and the 3mp Olympus C730UZ. These cameras were fun to play with but what got me REALLY interested was the free photo editing software they came with. Suddenly I had all this creative control over my images! And I was hooked!
The next progression in my love affair with digital photography was to buy my first DSLR, the wonderful Canon 20D (which I still use on occasion), and then join our local Photography Club in Nanaimo, The Harbour City Photography Club.
